Valaparaíso, Chile 2009

Work developed as part of a residency at CRAC in Valparaiso, Chile. I initiated the construction of an archive of graphic material related to the city of Valparaíso (tram and bus tickets, napkins, shop receipts, etc). Parallel to this I developed a series of drawings taking as reference the images found in the archive (images that due to its narrative character were able to echo the particularities of the city). I used a set of carbonless copy paper for each drawing so each drawing consisted of an “original” and a “copy”.
I aimed for a participatory and collaborative creation of the archive. To achieve this I promoted an exchange: I was willing to trade one “copy” of my drawings for more graphic material for the archive. In the images you can see some sets of drawings (original and copy) and also some of the people who took part in the exchange. 


This work was part of a residency I did in CRAC - Centro de Residencias para Artisas Contemporáneos.
