The Netherlands 2010
The Netherlands 2010
Work that consisted in
traveling non-stop during a whole day (just a 12 hours period) inside the
Netherlands to different cities looking for immigrant neighborhoods and taking
pictures of the facades of the shops located in these areas. The result was
having images connected many different places: Istanbul, Colombia, China, Morocco,
etc., showing how reality is capable of juxtaposing in a single real place (in
this case the Netherlands) several spaces, several sites that seem
incompatible: China and Colombia are worlds apart.
The city is a global world city that is no longer isolated from the rest of the world, no walls surround it so communication and migration allow cities to move, not only through time but also through space.
